Are you surviving ok?

If you are home with the kids for summer, are you ok? 😂
Are you surviving or thriving?
It’s such a mixed bag, some days so grateful to have this time, others feeling like I’m going mad!

What have you been up to and how can I make it the best summer ever?

Anyone? Or is everyone crying into the cornflakes whilst having made to play pretend games since 6 am

I'm working while trying to find childcare for mine since it's all unexpectedly fallen apart. If love to be off with them surviving because I know id not be thriving there either🫣😂

Summer holidays are a trial but I do my best to make sure that the DC are having fun even if it means I’m screaming inside at another trip to the paddling pool park.

We're thriving, I didn't frog march them out.of Smyth's toys in disgrace this morning because they tried to get on those ride on ponies and race them down the aisle (despite them being chained down) while my back was turned for 3 seconds. And we went to the Highlands of Scotland last week, I definitely, DEFINITELY didn't have to ban them from even looking at each other on the car ride home because if they look at each other they start fighting.

We are in Scotland so over halfway now! 4 weeks down, 2 to weeks to go… I’m counting down the days until I go back to work to deal with other people’s children 🤣
My eldest DD (6) is an absolute nightmare out of routine and I have just about managed to settle her into the holidays… but oh the constant bickering with her little sister is tipping me over the edge…

You don't have to entertain them all the time. Adopt an 80s parenting style and tell them to go and play in the garden or whatever. And if they're old enough to go to school, they're old enough to understand "if you're awake before me, you must be very quiet so you don't wake me up". Just let go of the modern (and very MN) idea that not giving children attention every time they want it is child abuse. It's just not.
