Losing my flipping mind

Partner - in life with kids, and business partner.

Frequently will ask a question and then just walk off mid answer. Or if I ask a question or try to say something will just walk off.

It’s fucking driving me insane!!!

Yes I know we are both busy people. Kids, businesses, house. It’s go go go and we are tired but it’s causing massive issues. I don’t know how the fuck to get through to him that we cannot live like this and for him to switch his brain on.

How the fuck are we supposed to do anything if he’s just walking off.

When did this rudeness start ?. How old is he ?.Does he need a hearing test ? Does he have other pressures that are stopping him from responding? Is he upset with you? Think we need some background info

Do you get to the point pretty quickly or do you drag your answers or questions out and he just gets bored?

I thougth this, i use to work with and know a few people that would drag it on.
And im thinking just get to the bloody point.

Example.
June can i have a word jack from top floor came down and asked me to ask you to move these boxs today they are heavy, it will take us a while to do it is that ok.

When all that needs to be said is june we got to move these boxs to the van lets crack on get it done.

Well potentially. I think he would say I ramble on or saying something irrelevant.

But to me- no you don’t get to decide what’s relevant! It might be bloody relevant that the boxes are heavy, or that it will take a while.

I can’t run our life and our businesses with no communication. It’s fucking infuriating and seriously pissing me off.

Its leaving me with three options.

A) let the ball drop and it fall to shit - which I have been doing tbh
B) chase or shout after him like a mad woman and demand he fucking listen - sometimes no choice but to do this
C) hold the information in my mental load and try again at another time when either he brings it up again or I think it’s better - don’t see why I should do this and I don’t have any brain capacity left for it anyway.

@Goingmadddd You’re not losing your mind, he’s being rude. Walking off mid‑conversation isn’t ‘being busy’, it’s dismissive. You can’t run a home and a business with someone who won’t stay still long enough to hear basic information.

You’re not rambling. You’re communicating the stuff that keeps your life functioning. He doesn’t get to decide what’s ‘relevant’ when you’re both carrying the load.

At the moment you’ve got three options because he’s created a dynamic where you’re doing all the thinking and he’s doing all the walking off. That’s not sustainable.

I’d stop repeating yourself. If he asks something and walks away, don’t chase him. Don’t shout after him. Don’t hold the info for later. Just stop talking. If he wants the answer, he can stay present long enough to hear it.

And I’d have a very clear conversation (at a time when he’s actually stationary) along the lines of: ‘This behaviour is disrespectful and it’s impacting our relationship and our work. If you ask me something, you need to stay and listen. If you walk off, I’m not repeating myself.’

You’re not asking for anything unreasonable. You’re asking for basic communication and respect. He either steps up or things will keep falling apart and that won’t be on you.

This is waffle though:

What you are doing is waffling. I get the point you’re trying to make and agree it’s probably part of his view; but we run a house and two businesses from home. The lines are obviously blurred and we can’t just bark orders at each other or dictate what the other is doing at any point in time like you potentially could in an office with a coworker in a 9-5 taking management orders.

We are the management. We are also life partners and parents. This requires some discussion at times and some padding at times - not just for potentially relevant extra information but also for social cohesion and processing time. I am not a robot who can think of a thought, speak it in my head and then translate it into minimal words at all moments.
