Bit of a weird one.
Took the kids for an outing to a local attraction that’s within a country park today. Parked in one of the free car parks a bit further from the ‘main’ park area - no marked bays, unmade ground. Parked in a large available space near the entrance - a good distance from each car either side but just too narrow for two cars.
When we returned to the car there was a note on my windscreen and the wing mirror was hanging off. The note stated that the writer had seen a man ‘punch’ my wing mirror and drive off. They gave the car reg.
Thankfully the mirror popped back into place so no harm done. It was all just a bit weird. Why on earth would you punch somebody’s car? I was nowhere near anyone else’s car. I’d actually forgotten that I’d left a car with my name/job title/phone number in the window of my car (we end up doing this at work as hospital parking is awful and people end up blocked in all the time) so if he thought I’d caused damage to his car or something (100% no way I could have done), he could have called me! Maybe he really hates nurses? 🤣 Or found the knitted boob on my dashboard particularly offensive?!
Anyway, my AIBU is about whether you’d bother reporting this to police? Obviously I managed to fix it so I’m not looking for compensation or anything. I just didn’t know if this was something that this individual was in the habit of doing, whether they might want to know about it?!
YABU - don’t bother
YANBU - report
