Late night “disturbance”

we live in a residential estate, some distance from the middle of town.

Last night at 1.30am we were woken by what I genuinely thought was a domestic violence incident initially - I was on the point of calling the police.

On second listen it turned out to be karaoke. It was at least one street, if not two, over and was audible through closed double glazing.

It woke my toddler - who was then up till 4.30am and the off-key screech-singing went on till at least 3am.

I posted on the local FB group because I felt it was inconsiderate and I’m being made out to be a killjoy as “it’s a Saturday night at the height of summer” and people shouldn’t have their “fun” curtailed to a certain hour.

AIBU?

Well they should actually because there’s legislation for antisocial behaviour.

Not the first time they’ve done it, though admittedly it’s not like it’s every weekend

If it had been pre midnight I’d do my damndest to accept it because of weather and people drinking and Saturday etc (even though I’d be internally fuming) but 3am is insane. YANBU

We used to live in a terrace of houses. Our NDNs were generally quite noisy and inconsiderate, and one weekend had loid off-key karaoke until about 4 am. Eventually they went to bed. So we got out the motorbike (an elderly British one, quite loud) in the shared back yard and started it up and revved it at 8am. Revenge was sweet.

We did similar when we lived in a flat and downstairs played music till the small hours.

We connected a CD player to my guitar amp and pointed it at the floor at 8am, blasted Ac/DC etc then fucked off for the day.

Didn’t happen again.

Sadly not sure exactly where this party is as not keen to venture out at 3am and had kids to try and settle.

The sound of a British bike revving sounds like heaven to me 😁

I think YABU for posting on a FB group, it's just drama-creating.

Either ignore it, or speak to them in person, or report it. But don't moan on SM, no good ever comes of that.

Check your local council's noise reporting processes in case there's a next time.

I would have spoken to them if I had known exactly which house it was.

I wasn’t going searching at 2am.
