Aibu to think Mumsnet has more men than mums nowadays

You can spot them a mile off. Mumsnet advertising their threads so much on social media has just brought people here to bitch at women asking other women for advice.

It's become so woman hating lately. There's always been vipers but the tone has changed, the overwhelming voices seem to be male now and they aren't giving advice. They're just telling women that their contributions are worthless, they're not entitled to gifts or love, their husbands are entitled to do what they want and it's their own fault they got sexually assaulted.

OP posts:

I can't spot them unless it's said in the original post.

Same here.

SerendipityCat · 26/07/2026 13:43

Can you link some examples, op?

vegemitesandwiches · 26/07/2026 13:45

I've been called a man on multiple threads over the years - normally because I'm not fawning over the OP.

SeaAndSangria · 26/07/2026 13:45

YABU. Especially as half the time you're accused of being a man on here if you dare to have an opinion of your own that goes against the rest or aren't sounding "ladylike" enough 🙄 whatever that means

Quine0nline · 26/07/2026 13:45

No, not seen it. Plenty of me haters though.

EstherGreenwood63 · 26/07/2026 13:46

You are SO not being unreasonable OP. MNHQ seem to like the traffic more than excluding the menz trolls so...here we are. And yes, they are EASY to spot.

Fluffyscrubberdo · 26/07/2026 13:46

No I don’t think there are more men than mums.

LoremIpsumCici · 26/07/2026 13:53

It has generally irl been women who have said those kinds of things to me, not men. I hate to say that but men (other than the abuser/attacker) are less likely to criticise a victim of male violence than are women ime. It’s usually women who say things like why involve the police, just kick him out. Or I know you were drinking too much, you should know your limits and why did you put yourself in such a position?

Yeah sucks, but there isn’t a sisterhood.

BauhausOfEliott · 26/07/2026 14:03

There are absolutely not ‘more men than mums’.

A lot of people on Mumsnet seem to think that anyone who disagrees with them (or whose views don’t conform to their own particular notion of what opinions and behaviour are ‘feminine’) must somehow be men.

UniquePinkSwan · 26/07/2026 14:08

So we can’t disagree with anyone because they are a woman? Ridiculous. There are far, far more men haters on here. The site definitely lives up to it’s reputation

DontrockthecaravanGeoffrey · 26/07/2026 14:09

There aren't more men than mums.

There are some men who make interesting contributions and then there are some men who post to be provocative/give themselves wank fodder. Some of them repeatedly, some of them under the guise of being one of the girls who wants advice about lacy pants or some such shit.

Mostly you can identify them all but the latter stick out like a sore thumb.

araiwa · 26/07/2026 14:09

Are there pink or blue flags that I'm not aware of?

GoodbyeZebedee · 26/07/2026 14:10

Can you post examples OP? It seems very female dominated to me.

Same
I also see lots posters calling other posters misogynists when they disagree with them.

This. I think what there is are is an increasing number of women pissed off at how one sided and anti-man MN has become and are increasingly vocialising it, and as a result getting labelled as men. Gone are the days of rational balanced advice, all relationship based advice is now the man is obviously at fault and LTB. If nothing else with the lack of critical thinking it’s incredibly boring with the endless anti male echo chamber.

Yup

EarthlyNightshade · 26/07/2026 14:15

Loads of men on here, and get away with it because so many people come on saying that they've been accused of being men for whatever reason but they are not.

I'd never accuse anyone of being a man, but sometimes I see a post - maybe telling the OP that their DH is not a mind reader because he forgot her birthday for the third year in a row, or there was one recently where DH left his ill wife without any water and so many people were nasty to her that I was hoping they were bad faith posters at least but also, quite possibly, men.

I don't think there are more men than mums though. I think there's a significant chunk of name-changing agitators who just want to make this place worse.

Absolutely. Lots of posters are also very quick to throw the "man" or "cool wives" card at anyone who dares to imply a woman could be wrong, lol.

NewPinkJacket · 26/07/2026 14:22

Don't be daft lol.

Unless you have access to their webcam, you have no idea what a poster has between their legs.

But still after 20+ years of being on MN, I spot 'Are you a man?' because a poster has gone against the grain of a thread, or against the 'sisterhood'.

Bang on.

OwlCalledSage · 26/07/2026 14:22

I disagree. I think it’s still predominantly a site used by mums.

Mt563 · 26/07/2026 14:27

No, maybe just more women who disagree with you. Which doesn't change that they're women, regardless of what some posters seem to think.

MySnappySloth · 26/07/2026 14:47

Nope.

It's just some women object to the overt misandry on MN so then get accused of being men.

And I don't mean the threads where if the sexes were reversed, there would be different responses but the outright misandry of threads talking about men being pathetic when ill, the dressing gowns of doom and poorly voice, the threads like 'old men always being rude, middle aged men not giving way in traffic, patriarchy chicken, mansplaining, claims of 'he wouldn't have said so and so if I was a man'.

Articles linked when the OP hasn't read them and most of the responders haven't either but have jumped in with their misandrists views.

I specifically remember 2. One was an article about men being involuntarily childless which spoke to a few men saying how for whatever reason, they were entering old age without DC and all the posters jumped in making up scenarios about how these men had not had DC because they were selfish bastards using women for sex for years and then suddenly realised they didn't have DC after using up the fertility of all the women they'd been in relationships with. And the only possible reason they regretted not having DC was because they expected a daughter to look after them in their old age

Another was a headline about an NHS trust giving 6 months paid sick leave for male menopause. The article actually said that male menopause wasn't a diagnosis but that if men had symptoms like anxiety and depression in middle age that could be attributed by some, to male menopause, they had he same rights to paid sick leave as anyone else diagnosed with anxiety or depression.

But MN posters jumped in victimising themselves saying they probably couldn't get time off menopause and this was typical of men and the patriarchy faking illness to get rights that women don't have.

I could go on and on.
