To find certain children seem to trigger your own kids?

Had coffee with a friend and her DD today, same age as my ds (5 and a half.)

Her DD is lovely but somehow her mere presence seems to bring out the worst in my ds, and he won’t stop speaking in a stupid voice, wriggling around on and off the chair, making an unholy (and embarrassing) mess with his food and generally being an arse.

I am not trying to claim he is an angel ordinarily but he isn’t that bad. Does anyone else have this?

No, but I've met plenty of parents who like to blame their DC's behaviour on others.

Kids are just kids.

They don't get 'triggered' into acting like kids.

I don’t know if you mean me, but I’m absolutely not blaming her - she is lovely and did nothing wrong. It’s almost as though the better behaved she is the harder work my own ds becomes, and I can’t work out what the dynamics are there.

I think this is quite normal my kids act up and show off more infront of certain people. Its no different then adults really we all act different depending on who we're around.

It's just showing off 😂 he thinks he's impressing her, bless him!
