I have had botox and I just get it very subtle as one time I reacted badly andcwas quite swollen. I would pove a lip flip. Keen to hear experiences as I'm worried when I'm reading it affects people's speech etc is it possible to just get a very subtle one? Any advice appreciated

I had one and it was so subtle; I really liked it and am doing it again in August. Get some numbing cream and apply about an hour in advance. My only complaint is that I felt that it didn’t last very long.

Was it very sore even with the numbing cream? Thanks for your reply

I’ve had it done. The effect is actually quite subtle, but that’s a good thing IMO. The clinic used numbing cream, applied thickly and left to work for 50 mins pre-treatment. It was four injections across the top of the lip - and being honest, yes, it did still hurt quite a lot, but was over in seconds. I’ll be having it done again soon.

This thread is in AIBU rather than style and beauty, so I guess it is ok for me to say that this seems like a horrible and pointless thing to do. Even if you do it at a responsible clinic you will be contributing to a new trend (partly driven by the marketing gold of its nifty little name), and there are bound to be cheaper, stupider practitioners who do it badly and cause distress or harm.

It is entirely likely that if it is 'subtle' no one will notice it except you, and you will notice it only because you are anxiously analysing your lips. Others will make nice comments, but those will be founded either on politeness or their own hypervigilant inspection of tiny features.

And if it is not subtle, perhaps you will be in the vanguard of some new comically distorted appearance similar to the duck lips that seem to be going out of fashion a bit.
