AIBU to worry about daily B6 intake from Vitabiotics supplements?

I have been taken menopace from Vitabiotics for about 3 months which are helping with lots of the symptoms of menopause. I have been having a bit of pain in my hands/fingers. Nothing major but started reading about the impact of b6 toxicity so got a bit worried. Each tablet has 10mg of B6.

I am also giving DD15 well teen girl from Vitabiotics which helps with energy levels, hormonal changes, etc. it has 8mg of b6

I am now wondering if taking these vitamins daily is safe?

DH doesn’t have any supplements and he is in good health; but I feel I need them and feel better, more energy, more focus, better sleep, etc; just a bit worried about the pain in my hands, may suspend them for a bit or take them every other day.

Any experts out there that can advise ?

I believe it’s set at 10 by the uk as that’s supposed to be the safe level

WarriorN · 24/07/2026 11:41

Together health has a lower level

have you read about the toxic impact of B6 on social media, by any chance?

No, I was researching in google and came accross it by chance. I don’t use facebook, instagram, TikTok, etc.

why?

I’m so sick of being served ads as video content with someone telling me how so many other brands are this or that and how my dc shouldn’t be allowed this and that. I use the same brand for my DC and trust that they would be withdrawn from all major high street retailers if there was any evidence of damage or harm in any way to consumers because the retailer could be held responsible and this doesn’t seem to apply on social. So much nonsense served about the menopause wellbeing market on social media it drives me mad.

You are right. Too much information out there. I don’t used social media or watch the news; apart from mumsnet 😅

Vitabiotics is a recognised brand so should be safe

Google serves you particular answers now that serve the commercial market. If you’ve searched any concerns, that’s what will come up as a priority next time you search. The levels in vitamins are actually sometimes not enough to support a particular issue rather than too much. I’m not in healthcare, but other v.close family members are and they do prefer to use diet rather than supplements, but teens don’t have that same approach, so that’s why I provide supplements and use others for myself to support with menopause health issues.

Thanks you are correct. Better to avoid googling too much.

I think it can be tricky to get all vitamins through food these days for adults and worse for teens

do you use Vitabiotics?

I may ask for blood tests anyway to check where my levels are

NHS won’t do any tests for b6

If you e tingling though it’s worth being checked for other things. I’ve had it on and off for years and still trying to work out what causes it. One Gp said they sometimes never find out.

low oestrogen can be a factor, over breathing, low b12 and folate. Thyroid, iron etc kidneys etc.

Due to many tests for b12 due to the tingling I have worked out that I do need to take extra of this and folate. I’m also on thyroxine. My b12 levels never changed despite always taking a b complex and started to drop very steadily when I stopped for a long period after breast cancer. I took 1mg sublinguals daily for around 9 months and it was upper range. I’m currently getting the tingling and burning at night again and considering asking for another check which will probably help work out if it’s that or not.

Stress can be a factor as can affect your breathing - that’s the other avenue I’m exploring.
