AIBU to worry about an ovarian cyst in early pregnancy?

ovarian cyst found on previous scan due to miscarriage.
the midwife wasn’t concerned she didn’t say what cyst it was or the size, but i had a letter through to rescan 3 months later to see if it had gone but fast forward 2 cycles late i am pregnant again, im currently 7 weeks pregnant and last night i was getting a new sharp twinges but on and off. nothing too painful.

has anyone else experienced this before? i was hoping the cyst had gone but it doesn’t feel like it.

yeah i think when i go back for my scan at 20w i will ask for them to have another good look for it! i always thought dermoids had to be surgically removed so was shocked to find mine wasn’t there any more but like i said unless they misdiagnosed me. x

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Like you, I discovered I had a dermoid cyst following a miscarriage and had annual scans booked in. I managed to get pregnant two years later, scans continued following pregnancy and it grew bigger, then another one was found. Once they were 5cm, they wanted to remove them but due to risk of ovary damage with an incomplete family, I declined. Had to bitterly laugh when they asked if I could get pregnant ASAP to speed things up. Eventually had baby #2 (5.5 years after the first baby) in March 2020 so what with Covid, everything non-emergency was off the table. I was eventually scheduled for open surgery 18 months later - where they found my two cysts were actually 3! Haven’t found any other since. So in my experience, I had no issues with the dermoid cysts during pregnancy and they were bigger than yours - loads of women will have them, but as we’re not routinely scanned, without going through miscarriages, they go undetected.
