I'm supposed to start early August but not signed a contract yet or received more than provisional offer and unsure if I want it.
I have a level of social anxiety (yes I know it's my problem] and I've realised I struggle sitting all day in offices with the same people (yes I know it's my issue again)
I've been in the Civil Service for 3 years, in 2 different roles. Was fine in role 1, had friends, conversations and social events. 2nd role I was put into an established team where they'd all been there years. Nobody was rude or unkind but got a few jokes including from the manager about how I was so quiet people forgot about me, 'you never shut up do you' that sort of thing, in front of everyone.
Again nobody was nasty or anything but being labelled and made to stand out just made my anxiety worse. I would only speak when spoken to, they were told I'm leaving but nobody knows what my new job is, nobody asked or anything.
Since getting a car I've had more work opportunities open up so I applied for a community-based role that also has an office element which paid better than the CS job and more senior. Mainly field-based appealed to me, however I followed the company on social media and saw the team I'd be part of, there would be 5 of us and it was all women who looked very tight-knit, one had her arm round the other's waist and you could tell they all were very close and friends. This is bringing back my fear of being labelled as quiet, singled out, being with the same people all the time and social pressure.
Communication hasn't been great from this role, I've had to ring a few times since the provisional offer and I've received nothing in writing, anyway yesterday I finally got some more info. Whilst it was all going through I was offered a 100% community based role elsewhere, not as senior but better pay. I've done this role before and know it suits me. I don't know what to do, I don't want to mess anyone about but I need to decide quickly. Again I know it's my issue but I do not do well in office environments.
