I’m fizzing with excitement about our upcoming holiday. It’s the first time I’ve been abroad in 13 years and the first time I will take our children (12 and 8) on an airplane!!
Dh says it’s too early to be excited but we go next Friday, so for me it feels very soon!
My mum also thinks I’m being a bit silly because she always has a holiday, in fact several a year like this but this is my first time doing All Inclusive!
I know there’s still like 6 days of work (and it will be HEAVY for me) but I can’t help it, I also have a baby shower I’m going to on Friday and I’m just so excited and happy!!

I went to Salou last month with my dh and two girls who are aged 6 and 8. Highly, highly recommend House of Illusion magic show if you can go. Incredible experience! Have a great holiday.

We are off to Spain. Which wasn’t my first choice (I grew up going to Portugal and have some good friends there still that I would love to see again someday) but when Dh found this particular hotel we loved the look of it and it has a kids club which my little one will adore! So Salou in Spain for us!

Oh i love salou we went to Cambrills last year, you will have a great time. Will be roasting though.

Thanks for all the tips!!

Being excited is a good thing, would they rather you were miserable?

I don’t think miserable, just they don’t see the point in “being excited”

It's never too early to be excited! Have a really lovely time

stargirl27 · 22/07/2026 22:26

Why wouldn’t you be excited? You deserve to be.

I am fortunate enough to travel abroad multiple times a year (minimum 5 trips) and get excited (sometimes even jumping up and down/squealing/skipping lol) every time.

I hope you have a wonderful time x

Love this thread. Have a great time OP. I go on plenty of holidays and get excited for each and every one, even the packing. I think holidays are a privilege and I'm grateful I'm able to go on them.

10 days countdown for me 🥳

Popstarrrrr · 22/07/2026 22:34

We also create a family theme tune for each holiday. Note my kids are now adults and we don't have every holiday together but will help each other create a song.

SuperSharpShooter · 22/07/2026 22:35

Aww, have a brilliant time OP.

I'll never not be excited by travel or holidays.
I got so excited about our up and coming camping holiday that I'd got it in my head we were going a week earlier than we are 😭😭😭
An extra week to add to my count down!

Tryingtobenormal124 · 22/07/2026 22:51

Salou is great for kids, have a brilliant time. Keep the excitement going x

They sound miserable. Holidays always excite me

Have a wonderful time

yousillygoose · 23/07/2026 07:09

The week before a holiday is the best for getting excited, you still have it to look forward to but don’t have too long to wait. You be as excited as you want. Have a fantastic time!!

socks1107 · 23/07/2026 07:13

Enjoy the build up as much as the holiday. Have a fabulous time

ClayPotaLot · 23/07/2026 07:48

Anticipation massively increases the value of a holiday for me. My DH is the sort to try and book the week before, but I love all the planning and thinking about it for months before hand. Hate being too busy before I go to get excited.

Have a fantastic time, OP!

NeedSleepNow · 23/07/2026 07:52

Have an amazing time 😊. It's definitely not too early to get excited, I would be exactly the same as I haven't been abroad for 14 years either and my younger two children haven't been on a plane before (they are very similar ages to yours).

Enjoy the excitement of the build up to holiday and have a wonderful time when you are there
