To buy a memorial plaque for my Uncle to put on my Dads grave?

My paternal uncle passed away end of last year. My brother and i are NOK, but his wife is still alive, and while ill, refuses to allow us to arrange for a funeral.

He is, as far as we know, still being stored somewhere with no funeral in sight, if ever unfortunately.

it feels wrong. WIBU to order a small plaque in his memory to place on my dads grave (his brother) to at least remember him by somewhere?

How can you be NOK if he has a living wife? But no, you’re not unreasonable and anyone can remember the people they love in whatever way they wish. I’m sorry for your loss.

How are you next of kin but he has a wife? Why won't she bury him .isn't there a law that means the body had to be interred or cremated!

She is unwell, dementia unwell, and in her incapacity, it makes my brother our uncles NOK as his closest blood relative and we were the ones the hospital were communicating with until our Aunts sister stepped in and took over, but there are legal loopholes because she did step in for us to claim him apparently (according to my brother) so my uncles body remains in limbo until my aunts sister will talk to us about it. We have essentially been cut off beyond being told that no, no-one has claimed him and no, there has been no funeral.

I'd get the plaque and legal advice. Is she putting off the funeral so her inheritance isn't spent?

we suspect he may have been cremated, but either way.. still unclaimed and no funeral at last update.. no i do not know why.

My concern atm is feeling wrong about there being no acknowledgement anywhere of his life or it's passing, hence wondering if its ok to pop a memorial on Dads plot for him for now.

i have said this to my brother, but he feels differently, and i can't afford to do anything on my own.

Right now, this is the best i can do for my Uncle, small thing as it is.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'd personally organise a small memorial service - you don't need the body to be released or anybody else's permission for that. It will give you some closure. The plaque is a lovely idea as well.

Oh I am really sorry, I think your own memorial next to your dad is probably the way to go,
