I have a job i used to love, im a nurse. I really loved my job but they've changed the role so much since I started. I am soo stressed.
The worst part for me is I have two amazing kids and I am soo stressed and overwhelmed, I have no patience. Im on leave this week and its has taken me 2 days to feel normal. For my stomach not to be rolling. My whole team is stressed, including my manager.
I need to leave my job, its just i'm part time and part time in nursing, around school hours is very hard to find.
Im not in the worst situation for money, I could last without a job, if im careful for 6 months. 6 months goes very fast, then I will still have to pay the mortage and all the everyday bills. I just dont know what to do, Im making myself deeply unhappy and ill. I dont want my kids memories to be me stressed out, overwhelmed and snapping.

At the end of the day, your health and wellbeing is the most important thing. You have one life and it’s too short to waste being unhappy.
You say you’d been fine for 6 months so line a job up, leave nursing, give yourself a month off to rest and then start your new job.

Give up nursing if you feel like this, it's not worth it, life is too short to feel so unhappy about work.
I was a nurse and quit as I felt sick with stress and used to dread going to work. It was very stressful and the role changed so much while I was there.

I had people tell me to keep my PIN at all costs but I didn't and I'm no longer a nurse and have never looked back or once regretted it.

There’s so many different avenues in nursing is there any opportunities in your area at the moment? Maybe look away from the nhs? I couldn’t be a ward nurse again and I feel your pain about it breaking you. It’s awful. Don’t do anything rash. If you’re stressed go off sick don’t totally burn out and burn your bridges. Take a moment to breathe and look at the private sector/ drug companies/ anywhere. Ultimately if you’re not happy you need to change something. But make sure you have something to move on too before you quit if you have kids and a mortgage. Hugs

So many people giving up nursing as its too stressful and the price you pay is too high.
Is there another area of nursing that is less demanding? Could you do agency nursing where you just sub in for absent staff or would that still be too much. What about at a GP practice or a nursing home. I am in lreland and they are the directions l see nurses opting for or in a day care ward where there is no shifts or weekends.

Definitely do what's best for your own life. Maybe you will end up working more days but with less pressure so overall be in a better place.

The thought has crossed my mind many times and I’m only 4 years in! I think people need to pay more attention to it when we get slated all the time, so many nurses leaving the register yet many nhs trusts not recruiting to save money! Then people wonder why the care is so bad. I was well and truly so burnt out last week I cried in our office at work because it no longer feels like a profession of caring. We’re all pushed to breaking point with more and more added and the majority of times it feels like neglect or doing all you can until end of shift which is still never enough. I think I must have been blind when I thought nursing was a great career choice. Still, I’m not sure what else I’d do and it was a long hard stretch at uni with so much student debt

Thank you everyone. I work in the community. Honestly, I truly loved my job. Its awful we feel this way and so many nurses are leaving.
I have carried out training to staff and private care providers as part of my role which i enjoy and recieve good feedback from. This might be worth exploring.I just feel so limited because I need to be able to pick up my kids. Where I live, part time roles are difficult to get in the nhs.
Im going to have to leave, i'll focus more on private roles not necessarily nursing. Thank you everyone, I was struggling to sleep last night. I just needed to write out how I was feeling .
