To ask parents who blur out / put an emoji on their child’s face when posting online …?

I suppose I’m asking anybody who might know actually. Does it actually make a difference? I’ve heard it can be superseded by AI anyway.

I follow a weirder one where one kids face is shown and their younger kid is baby faced out. It makes literally no sense. Both children have the same parents so it is not something like that either. I find it really bizarre.

They can be taken off, unless you cover face, screenshot that pic, then post

If you're trying to protect them from people who might use their images for distasteful reasons, it's really not their faces those people are looking at. Just don't post your kids pictures publicly.

Not me; I’m just wondering why people do it, tbh, as from what I’ve read their faces can still be made visible if someone is inclined to do so.

How old are the kids?

Could it be that the older child has said that they don't mind while the younger one has asked not to be shown?

Or is the older one old enough to say for themselves that they're OK with being shown, but the younger one is maybe too young to understand yet so the parents are waiting until they're old enough to give permission?

Oddly performative is right. I have no strong opinions either way about whether you should or should not post your kids online. But if you are worried jsut don't post. Don't go to the extra effort of sticking emojis over them.
