Aibu to overthink religious items?

Ok so I know I’ve made a lot of posts. Please be kind. So my boyfriend’s ex wife is very religious. And that’s ok I don’t judge anyone for being religious. And he told me his 21 year old son is also a Christian. But he doesn’t see him much. So one day I took his car. And I noticed a gospel stuffed down the side beside the driver side seat? Is it weird that he has a gospel thing in his car. He has never disclosed to me that he is religious. now he’s not religious at all but his ex wife was and she read bibles and all. And he has a bible in his fireplace. But they’ve been broke up 3 years and he has only lived in that house for about a year. Does this seem odd? Like the ex wife is still around. He tells me they don’t speak because his 2 sons are older.

OP posts:

I found a cross and a St Christopher in the glove box of DH's car last month. I expect MIL put them there years ago. I'm not religious, neither is he, but he'll probably never get around to taking them out.
It's really not odd at all.

WillThingsEverBeFergaliciousAgain · 20/07/2026 19:08

You should see the stuff I have in my house because I want to be educated on the things that are important to my children. It's a standard parent thing.

I haven't seen the rest of your posts, but if there are enough issues to make multiple posts then it's probably better to walk away rather than obsessively analyse every tiny thing.

BaronessBomburst · 20/07/2026 19:08

He probably just moved the bible from the old house to the new house without much thought. Besides, it's no more odd to have a bible than it is to have a dictionary or a copy of the works of Shakespeare.

Octavia64 · 20/07/2026 19:16

Many many people own bibles.

it’s probably one of the most commonly owned books that exist.

so no, it’s not odd.

You really really need to get some therapy,
You can't keep obsessing over every tiny detail. You are wasting your life and probably his life too.
Please look into therapy and tell them about everything you've posted

Is there anything that doesn't make you worry about your boyfriend? You've started threads, suspicious about him because you found a booster seat in his car, a toothbrush in his bathroom, a bible in his car and because he went for a drive. You're constantly scrutinizing the wording of his social media posts and his status updates.

You are told, constantly, that you're being unreasonable. Quite frankly, you are pathologically suspicious, and he needs to run like hell to get away from you.

notatinydancer · 20/07/2026 20:57

He needs to run away from you and fast. You have posted so many threads about the stupidest, most insignificant things.

PoppieCock · 20/07/2026 21:01

Genuine question OP but have you had any help for mental health issues?

He’ll struggle to run away from her considering she’s absolutely made all of this up and he won’t exist.

25 years of this sort of shit on here, and still Mumsnet won’t give us a function to block users…

ChickenBananaBanana · 20/07/2026 21:05

Op what do you want us to say at this point?

Yes he obviously is meeting his ex wife and fucking her whilst reciting bible verses.

And she’s leaving her toothbrush there and using the booster seat for their secret child.

I’m rubbish at spotting fake posts 😂

This. Get help, OP. Urgently.

OwlCalledSage · 20/07/2026 21:17

OMG OP. You need to bore off with these stupid threads.

Maybe he found them at the beach?🙄

TepidBathwater · 20/07/2026 21:37

Genuinely, OP, wouldn’t it be easier to just say ‘You know what, the mysterious bibles, toothbrushes, booster seats, solo drives, lack of adoring tributes to me on his SM etc definitely mean he has a stable of other women!’ and just end the relationship and be single and get therapy?

FelixRyark · 20/07/2026 21:40

Like many others before him, he was likely gifted some of those things, if he grew up in a worshipful family of church goers and Sunday schools.
I too have those kinds of things, and other religious ‘trinkets’ I was given over the years, I would not throw them away, but I don’t use them, ever.
However, so what if he is a religious person? If he is nice and doesn’t expect you to practice his religion, it should not matter if you enjoy each other’s company and have respect for each other.
You are overthinking it.

darkandgloomy · 20/07/2026 21:44

Run for the hills! Him, not you....

PollyBell · 20/07/2026 21:55

Unless he is going trying to try an exorcism on you, which we couldn't really blame him for, i think there is a small chance it's all ok
