AIBU to ask what help is available for anger issues?

What help do people get for their anger?

my partner has never laid a finger on me in the years we’ve been together. But in arguments he will walk out of a room and break things (usually his own things) throw things leaving dents in the walls, broken furniture.

he’s come to me saying he needs help and he has anger issues. Like I said he’s never hurt me, but the damage he’s done to property is a concern.

can counselling help with this? What actually helps?

Perhaps this information on the Mind website might be helpful OP.

Let him take responsibility and research what help is out there for him.

Have you modified your behaviour to try to stop him getting angry/ pacify him when he is like this? He doesn't have to hit you because he enacts violence around you and the threat of that is enough to keep you in line.

Does he do this at work? With his boss? If not, he is deliberately choosing to do this to you to frighten you and keep you in line.

Stop trying to manage his violence and get out. Do you have children? They will be traumatised.
