What do your teens do during the holidays?

Ds is 14. Bit too old for all the kiddy activities and family days out that I’d do with the younger dc, but still a child and obviously want to spend time with him during the holidays. He will be on his own at least 1-2 days a week while I work and usually fills his time reading, working out, gaming or going to the park with friends. But 6 weeks is a long time and I’m wondering if there’s anything else he could be doing either with us or on his own.

I go to the gym with him at least once a week. I’m thinking of ordering some Gousto type meal boxes and letting him do some cooking too. It’s just hard at this age as generally he wants to be alone which is fine but I also don’t want him to spend the full 6 weeks in his room.

I’ve two DS and they have long done sports camps but now they’re a bit older they’re coaching at a kids football camp. The older DS also has a job in the kitchen of a local pub. Other than that it’s gaming, hanging out with friends and sport. Lots of it!’

My 13 year old will be similar while her younger siblings go to a holiday club 2 days a week. I have signed her up for an art course for one week at the local uni and an intensive life guarding course at the pool which is daily for a week. She can get herself to and from both. Anything like that around where you are?

Well 2 weeks summer holiday with me then several organised sports events. 2 teens are also doing an umpire and scoring course for cricket. Go to the gym. Meet up with friends. Meet girlfriend. Go swimming, bowling and possibly cinema. Take dogs for a wslk. Mooch around town, popping into Wetherspoons for a meal, look at clothes in shops. Probably a one day visit to Dgp.

Go fishing, go to the gym, go to or have sleepovers a couple of times a week, see friends , swim in the lake/sea, have days out with some/all the family, go to our holiday home by the sea (no phones/tv/internet. Camp in the garden, play Xbox/cook/bake and plenty of lawn mowing etc too! One works full time as well.

Unfortunately quite rural. No coaching opportunities nearby and he’s too old for the holiday style camps that he used to go to.
