I want a pic n mix.

I want a pic n mix but it's Sunday, all the shops that sell it round here are closed.

The only place is the cinema down the road but then I'll be paying approx £300 for 5 sweets.

I'm an attempt to avoid a drip feed, it's my birthday tomorrow.

Aibu to even consider it?

*the chances of ending up with a Tango Ice Blast as well as pic n mix is high.

Not unreasonable, even less so as it’s your birthday tomorrow! Love a pic n mix 😋

smalltreethisyear · 19/07/2026 17:13

Go on…early birthday treat!

Bristolandlazy · 19/07/2026 17:14

You can get is delivered here from Facebook groups etc. Go for it, it's your birthday, a present to yourself.

Besidemyselfwithworry · 19/07/2026 17:15

Go to your local shop and just buy loads of different sweets
open the packets and put it all in a big bowel
job done!

ToffeePennie · 19/07/2026 17:17

If you really are in Shrewsbury, get off your butt and go to the fuel station between Shrewsbury and shawbury. They NEVER close (I’ve been in on Christmas Day when we were short of bread!) and they have a pick’n’mix selection (or they did last time I went in there anyway!

BeSharpHelper · 19/07/2026 17:17

i wouldn’t, they will have all been fingered by little kids , have you ever seen a kid use the tongs? Tongues yes, tongs no. Get yourself to the garage and buy a selection, or the independent foreign shops / money launderers they usually have loads of nice unusual stuff.

EarlofShrewsbury · 19/07/2026 17:18

It has to be specifically the candy king one, I don't really like haribo which is what the shops that are open sell (co op)

I like to pick it myself so the ratio is right.

As am I otherwise, I’d go grab you one!

Oh god I miss Littlewoods pic'n'mix. I love fudge , but it did weigh a lot so as a kid I was doing a cost benefit analysis when selecting my bagful. Luckily at that age, we didn't worry about germs. That and pink shrimps.

HotinJapantonight · 19/07/2026 17:21

Do you have a big Tesco. Ours has a pic n mix. Near the checkouts unsurprisingly.

youalright · 19/07/2026 17:22

This is why i miss woolworths

Yes, but it shuts at 5 on a Sunday so I just missed it.

Put it in a big bowel?? Yikes

StripedPillowcase · 19/07/2026 17:24

YA only NBU if you get me some pink shrimps and chewing nuts while you're there.

murasaki · 19/07/2026 17:24

Yes, Woollies was good too. Our school tuckshop had one that was done by cost of sweet rather than weight so you'd coolly inform the man that it was 20p with the insouciance of a 13 year old, while knowing full well it wasn't. I guess they wrapped up the thievery into the school fees. My niece is there now and needless to say, it no longer exists.

Snigger.

I know pic n mix are generally a cesspit for germs, but I've never been a germophobe and I'm rarely ill.

The range and Poundland do pic n mix near me, but not at this time on a Sunday obviously. Might just have to wait until tomorrow 🙁

Within a ten minute drive there is
Tesco
Sainsbury's
B&M
Range
Home Bargains.
Independent sweet shop

They all do what I want but they are all closed.

Only the cinema is open. Which is costly. The sugar and germs aren't my aibu, the cost is.

In which case treat yourself to it tomorrow, and enjoy your birthday!

Dahlia1234 · 19/07/2026 17:31

Bloody Sunday closing!

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 19/07/2026 17:36

Any other time it might be a bit frivolous, but it’s Sunday night, your options are limited and it’s your birthday so treat yourself!! You’ve asked and the majority say you are not being unreasonable. Just get in the car and go and get those delicious sweeties asap!

Yes, I think if I was really jonesing for pic n mix and it was my birthday coming up, I'd suck up the cost as a one off.
