I'm 40 in a month!

I'm already getting some bouji sunglasses, a trip to paris and something related to my hobby. But family are asking for gift ideas.

A CD of Natalie Schutzmann, 'Vier ernste Gesaenge' without a book (more difficult to get) but with a printout of the texts from the Internet to sing along to.

We were given a Velvitiser for Christmas and have used it more than I expected.

Subscriptions to things I’d actually enjoy using, e.g. Mumsnet premium, The Times, Ideal Home Magazine, Spotify or Adobe Creative Cloud. Some cost more than others.

Posh coffee. I’ve always wanted to try the Fortnum and Mason Piccadilly blend.

A nice organic red wine like a Cabernet Sauvignon.

Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream. I love it but sooooo expensive I only get it at birthdays or Christmases.

Anything from Space NK, esp body creams, posh bath stuff, high end make up.

I agree on this! Love mine in the winter.

For me I would love a monthly subscription to Amazon unlimited.

If you like flowers a monthly delivery would also be nice.

Is there a local chocolatier near you as a voucher for a shop would be better than some of the big names like hotel Chocolat which aren't as tasty as you think they would be.

I also like soft toys so a Jellycat to add to the collection would be a win for me.

Also if you have a few people contributing then dr marten boots was on my birthday list.

Oh and Lego. There are some good adult sets now (not just flowers).

I think reading back my list I am a big kid though!

A weekend away in the hotel that’s in a library (Gladstone’s Library nr Chester)

I know this isn’t everyone’s taste but I had a Pandora bracelet and asked everyone to buy me charms. This way I had a piece of jewellery with lasting memories from the people I love.

An afternoon tea voucher or a theatre/show ticket - so you can have a nice memorable experience x

My first thought was experiences. Tickets to show(s), art or dancing classes, maybe a short trip somewhere nearby that is also nice and new to me.

Think of your hobbies and interests, maybe there is something you'd like to try or take to another level. My friend got a full genealogy research for her 35th birthday as she's very much into the whole thing.

Tech stuff like good headphones or something for your home like an air humidifier, a good photo album for family pictures subscriptions to house organizing apps and programs like this one for interior design or this one for garden planning, etc.

Could also be something more or less practical that you wouldn't buy on the oridnary day, like upgraded versions of what you already have and enjoy like perfume, skincare, clothes, etc.

My latest 'want although don't really need' is a Marshall bluetooth speaker, so I don't need to keep borrowing the one that DP uses when he's pottering in the garage:

The smallest one, which I'm sure will be fine for household use, is on offer for £89.

My other indulgence is Lego - flowers and the monument type stuff, eg the Trevi Fountain.
