This is something that is getting worse as I get older (I’m 41). I always feel like I am embarrassing myself in public.
I hate to be involved in any form of disagreement in public and people seeing me.
I have a DD and she is lovely but difficult at times and I struggle to always remain calm, I especially hate friends seeing this in social situations (like if we go out for the day with DDs friends/mums).
I am starting to understand why people limit their social interaction.
It’s hard as believe it or not I’m naturally emotive and a quite an oversharer but afterwards I end up hating myself for stupid things i’ve said to colleagues/friends and best myself up over it for days. Sometimes it seems easier to say nothing.
Can anyone recommend any self help? Is anyone else like this?
I don’t tend to do well with therapy, the last CBT counsellor I saw said i didn’t fit ‘the model’ and I didn’t find another counsellor to be helpful.
Surely it’s not normal to deal with this level of self- embarrassment?
