We've been together a year and it feelsnso good. I keep waiting for things to fuck up but its great. Im 38 and have had some real shit shows in my life 😂
Is it normal when you find a good one to be slightly edgy about it all going tits up? Never felt this way before

I think it’s very normal to be cautious if it’s not gone well before.
A year is a decent amount of time to spot the flags though.

It's normal to worry that a good thing will change especially if you've had bad experiences. I worried about this on and off for a while when I got with DP. We're getting married next year and I feel much more settled and chilled now. Enjoy it OP sounds like it's going well & wish you all the best for your future together xx

It's a protective mechanism to be edgy, and he might be perfect for you. However, your starry eyed approach to this man seems to suggest you may need to be a bit more discerning. No man is completely 'amazing' - he might be perfectly charming when you go out but does he help you out at home? is he tidy and considerate when you share space? have you gone through any challenges in this year that you've addressed together - job loss, bereavement, etc? have you had any issues that have caused friction - how have you communicated about them and addressed them? Enjoy your relationship by all means, but don't get carried away. A year is a decent amount of time but still relatively early days. Good luck.

Because youve had shitshows, thats your expectation.

When i met my now husband, it was amazing, I was waiting it to become shit, for him to change, for it to not be the honeymoon phase - it didnt, The fact was he was normal, not psychotic or narcissistic, or toxic, just a normal person. It wasn't a honeymoon phase, it wasn't love bombing, it wasnt hiding behind a facade. Just a normal self aware, well adjusted man who wasnt a toxic manchild.

I'm still shocked by the niceness of it all 10 years in.

What a strange comment. I think you’ll find it’s a site that is very good at supporting women. The only men that are criticised are the shitty ones.
