Question about taking the cot side off/transitioning toddler into a ‘big bed’

Hi,

My DD 2.5 year old has never tried to climb out of her cot so is still sleeping in it currently. I want to make the transition into the ‘big girl bed’ in her room or at the very least take the cot side off.

She may have additional needs and is very hyper (cannot sit still at all) and I worry that removing her from the safety of the cot will mean that she will be playing with toys instead of sleeping and doing a tour of her room in the early hours of the morning as she won’t be as ‘contained’.

How do I go about this? Sorry if it’s a silly question.

Not an AIBU question but posted on her for traffic. Aibu

We only just changed DS cotbed to a toddler bed and he's almost 4. Main reason was because I'm pregnant and couldn't lift him in and out anymore. He's done amazing, only fallen out once and put himself back to bed and hasn't once left his room or played when he's meant to be in bed!

I'd wait, if it's not broke don't fix it! I never rush anything despite social pressure. Used highchair until 2.5 years, breastfed until almost 3 years, etc. If something works well I just don't change it :)
