AIBU to think a carrying a generator about is unreasonable for freelance training?

Sort of a lighthearted thread here…So I work as a freelance trainer and use a laptop and a projector. I was meant to be doing some work for a company that sometimes calls upon me to train one its clients . I got there today and they had a power cut - they checked online and the power was not meant to be restored for several hours. They were very stressed about it - fair enough and we decided it was best i returned in a cpl of weeks to carry out the training- everyone was happy with that. I called the company who I was working for today and the guy who runs it called me unprofessional- he reckoned i should carry a sodding generator about with me to use. Really? I honestly feel like telling him to stick but I need the money right now . Aibu to think he’s being ridiculous? It’s almost funny and I’m sure I will laugh about it tomorrow but I just pissed off with him right now

That is indeed unreasonable. I do similar, deliver training to adults in various buildings. I usually bring a lead and plug my laptop in as I can't guarantee the battery will last. There is no way in the world that I would buy and carry a generator with me. Or even an expensive battery pack.

YANBU. I have a similar job and my view is that the onus is on the organisation employing me to have basic utilities. It would be on them to have a backup generator though to be honest no one is going to suffer terribly if I have to come back another day!

And possibly does he mean one of these mini batteries back up things that you carry around? You know the kind you can jumpstart a car with.

anyway, I don't think you can give training in a building where there's no electricity. Even if you were carrying one of those mini things around, no one else would have it.
