End of School Year

Not really an AIBU, just to send lots of love to anyone having a bit of a wobble this morning about their DCs leaving school or their school year. DD1 is going into Y3, fine about that, DD2 is leaving EYFS and I have bawled my eyes out this morning - I will feel ridiculous for this later today when she’s being a pest and fighting with her sister I’m sure, but for now I’m still having a moment 😭😂

Mine is leaving year 5 and I’m sad that when she goes back in September it’s the final year 😭 I’m not ready for her to go to secondary school.

I am, she got a dyslexia diagnosis this year and is working so hard to find ways to make things stick for her with her spelling. Honestly i think I’ll be a wreck from September 😂

DD2 had her leaving assembly from infants, with songs clearly chosen for max parental heart string pulling 😂

DD1 is more emotional for me though, just finishing year 5, seeing all the year 6's leaving yesterday made me think about how that will be her next year. It's been a tough year prepping for the 11+, with a busy summer of prep ahead, and I'm just looking forward to mid September when all the stress is over and hoping she has a fabulous year 6, she has definitely earnt it. Sending much love and virtual bottles of vino to anyone else gearing up for entrance exams/11+

DS finished 1st grade last month, they had an end of year celebration and 6th grade (leavers) and 1st grade parents were invited. I shed a few tears when they sung to the leaving 6th graders and I didn't even know any of them
Also shed a little tear for DS finishing his first proper year of school. Next year I will be sobbing as DD finishes comprehensive school altogether.

Thank you and sending lots of love too. My dd finished year 6 on Friday, something I've been dreading for weeks. Her junior school was lovely and she she was so happy there which is a real blessing. I was a blubbering wreck at the leavers service and my daughter was in bits leaving school for the final time.

Luckily she'll be with her friends at secondary school but she'll really miss her teachers. Teachers have a huge impact on children's lives and I feel very grateful to them.
