To think the show more button is annoying

I want to read the thread.

I don't want to randomly have to click show more every so often.

If the post is too long for me I will just scroll. There was no problem with the way it was.

While we are at it whose daft idea was it for AI generated titles?

I thought that was new, its so annoying.
It coincided with a recent phone up date and I thought it was due to that as something is always different after.

Totally agree with you it's yet another annoying tweak to the site that i'm sure the majority of MN users didn't want. They seem intent on making the site as unuser friendly as possible.

I'm still annoyed at them hiding the Report facility for no good reason. I can only presume to discourage users from reporting posts

I can't be bothered to click to 'show more' so that bit goes unread. Absolutely pointless addition and does not 'help the flow of the thread' which is what I think MN said was the reason behind it.

I'm not loving it at the moment. I know none of like change so I am giving myself a bit longer to get used to it...but so far its a 👎 from me

I guessed it might be to deter people from making long posts, but if for example a poster is trying to relate what happened to her as a warning or encouragement or explanation, it might well take more words and it just feels like a rude and unnecessary interruption on the part of the site.

I haven’t yet but I think when they originally trialled the new layout with random users we all asked to please have the old site back. I remember show more and I didn’t like not having page numbers. I hope it doesn’t come back for me!

But then again, almost every change MNHQ has brought out during the 16 years I've been on MN, has irritated someone.

I remember when they brought in 'Trending', you'd think they'd just dumped a bag of puppies in a canal the way some people went on.

Yes it's still available. But a lot of posters don't know its there because you have to look for it by accessing the 3 dot menu. Whereas previously it was always visible in the options along the bottom of the post. So everyone was aware of it

Ive just seen one where I clicked show more and there was NO MORE. There was nothing else. Wtf.

I agree it's annoying and pointless. You have to do more clicks just to read normal length posts.

What do MNHQ think is the benefit?

I find it extremely annoying and wish it begone, with immediate effect.
