To go to bed now?

DD 13 is in her room chatting and playing games, DH is out. I’ve still got pain in my coccyx from falling down 5 steps a few weeks ago so the sofa isn’t that comfy. I’m knackered from watching football over the last few weeks. I am trying to lose weight and so should get more sleep. BUT it’s still light outside and I have downstairs to myself.

Why not? If you get too comfortable on the sofa it's often harder to get up from it to actually go to bed!

Blackout eye masks are your friend these evenings, together with a good podcast or audio book.

Can you tell I'm on my way to bed very soon myself... 😊

If you've tired go to bed. Close the blinds and snuggle down.
Sleep tight. 😴

Sortingmyself · 16/07/2026 21:05

Just got in bed myself...

Lyra87 · 16/07/2026 21:05

Go for it.I've gone to bed at 8.30pm if not well/tired/just feeling meh. One of the few upsides to adulthood is deciding your own bedtime 😊

@Lyra87yes and when we’re old enough to choose it we love an early night whereas the teens want to stay up all night. After the England match last night I suddenly felt so exhausted.

I’m in bed!

3luckystars · 16/07/2026 21:09

Why do you think you need permission to go to bed??
I value rest and sleep, and working shift work I go to bed whenever I want to and I don’t ask anyone if it’s ok. It’s important.

HollyGolightly4 · 16/07/2026 21:11

I'm in bed!

I used to think I loved staying up late. I've changed my mind 🤣.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/07/2026 21:11

Absolutely go to bed!

Although I’m jealous because my 12 yo still needs to be forced to go to bed every day (ADHD). So I couldn’t go to her whilst he’s still up.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 16/07/2026 21:18

@3luckystarsi don’t really I just feel a bit weird going to bed so early 🤣. You’re right though

Nope, I'm off for an early night myself shortly 😴

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 16/07/2026 21:28

As is typical I’ve gone upstairs and DD is talking to me now lol

Right DD is in the shower and I’m getting into bed. Bit of my book then sleep. Night all. Sweet dreams 😴

I’ve actually realised that 10.30 is the optimal time for me to go to sleep. Lots of things feel better after a good nights sleep!
