To think my nursery gift is a bit rubbish?

DS has his last day of nursery tomorrow before starting school, so we have a card and gifts to take in for the staff. We wanted to get something for all the staff (including the cook) and not just key workers, so have went for mini bottles of pink prosecco and a handful of forrerro rocher in a little cellophane display bag. It seemed like a nice idea at the time but now I think it just looks naff and cheap! Its 10 bags so has actually cost us over £50 but it felt like a nice way to say thank you to everyone instead of just one big gift for key worker. Also wanted to stay away from mugs, key rings etc as from what I've heard the staff don't like those.

Not even sure why I'm asking as I can't do anything about it now🤣
Should I top up with stuff for the staff room? Biscuits tea bags etc?

Sounds incredibly generous. I'm sure the staff will be very happy with that.
I'm a teacher - I hate all this worrying about gifts. Please don't spend any more of your money.

As a teacher I would say thank you, but the gift would be wasted on me. I can’t eat chocolates and I’m teetotal, so most likely it would end up in a raffle or something.
That being said, it was really thoughtful of you to do something like that for everyone, and incredibly generous. I usually stick a box of chocolates in the staff room.

I think that’s lovely and thoughtful, but I also think (with my more cynical hat on) that if this is your first rodeo (i.e. if this DC is your eldest) you have many long years of teacher gift anxiety ahead of you and need to get the hang of sticking to your instincts!

Ok I feel better thank you for all the responses! I based the amount on what I've heard from others so had no idea if that's the done thing or not. I've heard of people buying dinner vouchers and Costa gift cards which all sounds expensive and lovely! I don't mind the cost at all as they have all been so amazing (DS is disabled), just as long as they feel happy with it

Absolutely right! I don't think I have the brain space to worry about it in years to come, once has been bad enough

This is exactly what I done to and it went down a treat last year. Only difference I done a mix of the small Proseccos and the pre made cans of cocktails incase some didn’t like Prosecco.

Honestly, just the fact that you have included every individual will be so appreciated. It really is the thought that counts and so often the 'backroom staff' get forgotten

I normally do a pair of Seasalt socks (I pick up a load when they are on sale) and a box of chocolate.

Nobody did teacher gifts when I was at school - no pressure. Anything is a bonus, so don't fret OP.

Its great you remembered the cook. When I taught I would offer some of my gifts to the lady who cleaned my classroom. She was a unnoticed saint!

When parents have bought me a Costa/Starbucks gift card it tends to have £5 on it so it would have cost you the same.
Your gifts sound lovely but honestly - we don’t expect anything! I know people don’t always believe it but little handwritten cards/messages/drawings etc are truly valued.

I'm a primary teacher and it sounds perfect. I don't understand people saying it's crap. We're paid for our jobs, so any gift is a delightful bonus. I get uncomfortable with things that are expensive to be honest.

I think it sounds lovely. Even if you don’t drink (I don’t) I would still appreciate the thought and intention.

They are the best chocolates ever.😃 The good thing about giving chocolates and alcohol is that even if the recipient themselves can't use them they are easy enough to pass on.

Sounds lovely, and I am sure the staff that aren't key workers will appreciate being included.

When DC left nursery we gave cards DC had done, bags of thorntons smiles to the key worker and those that did the wrap around, and gave biscuits for the staff room.

In primary we did do some other things, buy mainly did Costa vouchers for the teacher and support staff in the room. I did biscuits for the staff room in primary too.

Teacher here- prosecco and chocolates are my favourite things to get!

Just to save you fretting in future, a wee hamper of biscuits, tea, coffee, hot chocolate generally goes down well.
