To only buy men's running shorts

I’m a runner and I need proper pockets in my shorts ones that can actually hold a phone and keys securely.
Why are women’s running shorts (and women’s clothes in general) so bad at this? It’s genuinely maddening.
Men’s shorts usually have nice spacious pockets, often with a zip. Women’s shorts? Pathetic little pockets you can barely get your hand into.

I've just bought Brooks chaser shorts which have a proper zipped pocket this season for the first time, and the Sweaty Betty running shorts have template zipped pockets, but you wouldn't buy them outside of the sale!

There are quite a few about now that have a drop in phone pocket in the cycle short style liner, that works quite well.

I agree it's a huge frustration that only men get pockets, but men's shorts don't fit?

Men's clothes generally are more practical and comfortable. I have mens shorts for the gym too.

HappyStride endurance shorts are great, they have an inbuilt zipped belt that fits loads - gels, phone, keys, bottle. Their normal shorts have generous pockets on the inside shorts for phones and keys too. I really like their stuff.

I hate lack of pockets too, on any clothes. I love pockets.

I love pockets. I will always use pockets over a bag!

Men's Nike shorts weirdly fit me ok, but not the most flattering shape 😅

YANBU to want proper pockets but I find an arm belt is much better for my phone than a pocket. Either the pocket is big and loose, and the phone bounces around uncomfortably; or it's tighter to the skin, and the sweat soaks through to the phone.

Mens shorts are the only ones that fit me!

I have a short torso so women’s shorts come up to my boobs, Lululemon men’s shorts in the shortest length fit perfectly though.

I prefer mens running shorts because of the pockets and they seem to be a big longer

Not unreasonable at all. Decent pockets for an extra tissue, good fit and somehow the net inner lining is brill
