Linen - do you just accept the creases?

I’ve come to own quite a few pieces of linen clothing which are gorgeous and floaty, but also crease like a bugger.

Do I just have to accept they’re going to be creased, or do I need to start planning to take a little travel iron everywhere I go on holiday?!

Accept the creases. Keeping linen crease free is like painting the forth road bridge.

Get a travel clothes steamer. Smaller, lighter, lifechanging on linen. Well, my linen anyway!

Hard agree with the above. My summers have got easier since I just accepted that it's sort of the point of linen and that's fine 😀 (maybe it helps that I don't tend to wear it in very formal situations!)

Haha as long as I’m not the only one walking around in creased trousers!

I iron them before I wear them, which is fairly pointless as 5 minutes later they are creased again! I do love linen though even with the creases!

I find if they’re in that ‘not quite fully dry’ stage they’re easier to iron.

I tend to get a linen mix. A bit less creasy! Also softer. Even loose pure linen trousers can have surprisingly hard edges to the creases at time. I've flown in some only to end up with red marks on my thighs.

Yeah the ones I’m wearing today I nearly sent back because they were really scratchy and hard, but after washing they’re gorgeous!

I love linen, and do a lot of ironing. Haven’t yet found a good steamer, and always ask a hotel to provide iron and board. I don’t wash items after every wear thogh- being post menopause I am less sweaty and hormonal than of yore, so that helps prolong the lifespan of the items, even with all the ironing.

Me &Em claim to have some ‘creaseless linen’. I have no personal experience of this product so can’t recommend ; but, if true, it will be on a par with the truly enjoyable zero-alcohol wine as the holy grail of product development !

Not just linen. Creases are fine in cotton and faces too.

To be honest I don’t think I’ve ever actually ironed 😅

Sod the iron and embrace the crease is what I say. I love floating around in creased linen in hot weather.

Creasing is part of the look with linen. It's a relaxed and carefree sort of thing. Or an "it's absolutely impossible to keep smooth so this is how we own it" thing. Either way, it's part of the look.

I love it all, it’s part of summer. I have tried the Uniqlo linen mix wide legs this year, and although light and breezy, they are no different from 100% linen as far as the creasing goes. So back to basics for me!

Everyone has bought into the myth that it looks good. It doesn’t.

Whoever you are, however gorgeous, sophisticated, classy, however expensive your linen is, even if you’re sitting on your own yacht sipping vintage champagne - within 5 minutes of putting linen clothes on you look like you’ve spent the night on a park bench.

It drives me insane that so much summer clothing is made of linen. If it was invented now, and people were told “here’s a new material, it feels a bit scratchy to wear, and it creases like tinfoil”, no one would buy it!

I have to say I’ve never been one of the “natural fibres” gang, but these trousers are changing my mind!

The trousers I have one are super soft!

But I bet that after 5 minutes they look like they’ve spent a month at the bottom of the laundry basket!

No the creases seem to have dropped slightly since I put them on, but I am outside in a fair old breeze 🤣

My MIL has a bee in her bonnet with linen and how much it needs ironing always saying how much she prefers her polyester mix clothing that doesn't need any pressing. OK, but I like ironing and love linen so it stays! Please be quiet MIL 😆

I iron after washing and before first wearing. Then I live with the creases.

for me there’s a difference between ‘was ironed but has now creased’ and ‘creased from the wash, not ironed at all’. It looks different! To me, anyway!

These are them on this morning, I think they look fine!
