AIBU to ask if anyone else found animal adoption too slow when a pet needs company?

One of my indoor guinea pigs died yesterday and I have tried a local charity but no joy. No other piggy charities and I don't drive, not that I would transport whilst so hot anyway. Don't want to encourage breeders from pet shops.

RSPCA request to adopt submitted but told it might be a couple of weeks to get back to me🙄I've had a small piggy sanctuary in the past so know how important house mates are. My girl is eating and drinking in spite of the heat, she has a cool zone and there are 2 fans in the room for h and me. She seems happy enough but she needs a pal.

I get welfare standards are high as they should be, but I would have thought RSPCA would be a bit more quicker about this as lone piggies can stress and die within days. They know the situation.

Anyone else had problems adopting an animal?
