AIBU to keep spare air conditioners and fans as backups?

I have in my loft 2x nearly new very good portable AC Units and 4x Shark turbo fans. The items are somewhat spare as I have AC in most of the rooms now.

My partner said I should give the fans away to people who are begging on Facebook, and sell cheap or gift the AC units to someone with children.

I think we should keep as back ups in case our AC fails, and the fans cost £200 each and AC £500 each. Ive managed to prepare for this summer as it’s been obvious for years it’s coming, so I don’t feel the need to reduce our redundancy for other people I don’t know, lack of planning (appreciate it could be financial too)

It’s hot nearly every summer. I’ve had fans for as long as I can remember. One is probably 25 years old from my parents house.
It’s not your job to keep them for other people because they only decided to get one now!

I would sell them as it’s a good time to sell at a good price and maybe keep one back up.

Id sell some but id also keep a spare.

I’m a prepper and I think this is excessive. But then again we don’t have AC in every room, we have one unit that moves around the house and if it breaks I’ll buy another one. We managed to get hold of this one during 2022 in the week when it hit 40 so I am not very worried about scarcity as it’s a nice-to-have not an essential.

what about a compromise and lend them out to friends and family with the knowledge that you want them back if your AC fails

if anyone else wants one they can buy them it’s not the holy grail Amazon have them.
