AIBU not to share my iCloud storage with an in-law?

I mentioned I have iCloud to my in-laws, and one of them said they want to share my iCloud space. She said she would pay a coin towards it. But I don’t feel comfortable incase there is an error and she gets access to my icloud account with my pictures. I don’t know
how this works exactly.

would you share?

I don’t think you can share, can you? I thought it was linked to your own iCloud accout.

but to answer your question, no I wouldn’t share. Tell them to get their own, it isn’t expensive.

Tell her No, but you’ll help her set up her own, perhaps, @Kardelen.

Tableforjoan · 09/07/2026 17:05

Pretty sure you can only share on a family plan.

So I can share with my children because I set up their child accounts.

Just checked and you can add upto five people.

Tableforjoan · 09/07/2026 17:07

But still Just say no.

iCloud have Family Sharing, where you can share your iCloud storage with up to 5 people… but I still wouldn’t advise it! As you’ve said, it’s not expensive, they should just get their own. Plans start from 99p. You can only share your iCloud storage with them if you’re on the 200GB plan or above… so just tell them you’re on the 50GB plan, it’s sufficient for your needs and you won’t be upgrading.

No.

Shesafancyflapjack · 09/07/2026 17:55

It costs 99p a month so this would be pointless, maybe they just need help setting it up and understanding how/what to synch?

Vaxtable · 09/07/2026 18:04

No help them set up thier own

outerspacepotato · 09/07/2026 18:11

Hell no. That's your account for you only, not to be shared.

She needs to set up her own.

Firm no.
