AIBU to object when a pizza shop changed my chosen toppings?

The other week, I ordered a pizza which allowed me to select my own toppings, I was craving sweet chilli sauce pineapple pizza with spicey beef and cheese. I know it is highly controversial to put pineapple on pizza and the AIBU isn't whether it's to your taste. When I received the pizza there was a note included which said that they had changed the toppings as they thought their idea was better. But if you don't agree with it why sell it?

Id send it back. Not what i ordered...

I’d be incensed! Also love pineapple on pizza. What did they change it to?

JulySheWillFlyAndGiveNoWarningToHerFlight · Today 21:53

That's risky. What if they had changed it to something you are allergic to, which is why you didn't order it?

Needmorelego · Today 21:54

Really?
Did this actually happen?
If so I would report them to the Food Standards Agency because have they never heard of allergies?
Did they ask you if you had allergies?
If they didn't then report them.
If they did but just changed the toppings but making sure anything you are allergic to wasn't on there - just ask for a refund.

Sounds like an authentic Italian place.

UhOhRatPoo · Today 21:54

We need to know what they changed it to!

I did laugh at your choice of toppings but YANBU you should get what you ordered. It never even occured to me to think about allergies but of course that makes it worse!

Your pizza sounds horrendous (except for pineapple. I could eat pineapple with anything) but if they allow you to choose your toppings you should have the right to choose whatever abomination you wish.

Also like others have mentioned, allergies and other dietary restrictions. They can't just give you what they want before checking with you.

i feel sorry for any craving suffering pregnant women looking forward to a weirdly topped pizza and being told by the pizza police in that shop they cant get it.

how dare they. cheeky bastards. i’d be down there asking them wtaf next time i happened to be in the area! nicely so they don’t spit in my food ……

Couldyounot · Today 22:14

Bloody cheeky is that

OnTheBoardwalk · Today 22:18

I would report them to environmental health and the council, did they add any ingredients that could have caused an allergic reaction?

surely the thought of any insurance claim would have stopped them changing your order?

People often mock those with allergies, intolerances, coeliac disease etc for being "picky". I've heard recently of a group lying to children about what's in the food as "fussy" eaters won't join in if they know it has egg/onions/whatever. As someone affected by this I really strongly believe that food must be exactly what the customer ordered and as described. If you can't or won't actually make it then don't advertise it.
