I love ice cream… I maybe hate the ice cream man though?

He’s come by our house twice in the last week around 9pm jingle blasting. All the windows are open because it’s been so hot and both times it’s woken my 2 year old and my baby.

Surly 9pm is too late to be amplifying music on a residential street?! Either that or the sleep deprivation has finally got to me AIBU 🤣🫣

Meh, post dinner ice cream I the summer when it's almost the school holidays and boiling hot is most children's dream! Unclench.
Their music is annoying though.

They don't come down my street. Instead the ice cream man parks up outside my daughter's primary school. The absolute bastard.

He gets there nice and early to secure a prime spot and then sits there, taking a large and valuable space from parents trying to pick up their kids, and he pisses off somewhere, leaving his van parked up until 3:20 when the school kicks out and he magically respawns, rubbing his hands with glee and ready to take the money of harassed parents.

The queue is always a mile long, the ice cream needs you to remortgage just to pay for it, and you are left with a sticky, sugar-rushed child at the end of it all.

Fuck you Mr Ice Cream. Stick your flake up your arse.

One of the few things I dislike about living somewhere rural is the fact we don't have an ice cream van. God I'd love one. Maybe just not at 9pm though..m

9pm might be late in the stage of life you’re in right now but in the grand scheme of things it really isn’t late, especially in the summer with warm, light evenings.

As shown on this thread no matter what time and where an ice van comes is going to piss someone off. 3pm - hyped up sugar rushed kids right after school, 5pm - now my kids won’t eat their dinner, 7pm - now my teens want ice cream instead of dinner, 10am on a Saturday - too hungover from Friday night and the noise is annoying etc etc etc

You’re sleep deprived and that sucks. Feel free to snarl away privately and have a moan on here. Just don’t be one of those U people who thinks the whole world must revolve around their kids and the stage of life they’re in right now.

All these tired old ‘they selling drugs’ urban myths. Do you think drug dealers make themselves known and play music to alert themselves to authorities? As someone who used to regularly order and take drugs - they’re ALL on mopeds because you don’t need a licence. The exact opposite of a bloody ice cream van. Engage brains

I think it might have been a thing in the dim and distant past but now they have kids on bikes/mopeds doing the work it’s died out. An Ice Cream van doesn’t make for a good getaway vehicle chased by a Police BMW does it ?

It’s the worst feeling when someone or something wakes up your baby. I used to begrudge sirens, loud teenagers and trucks daring to be in earshot of the pram when out walking with a napping baby. It’s irrational but can’t be helped!

We had an ice cream van do this, his ice creams were £6 a pop. So the PTFA went and got a bunch of lollies and ice creams from Aldi and sold them at £1 before the kids got out of the gates.
