AIBU to not be able to think of many bigger dropped bollocks?

Nigel Farage’s by-election move has got me thinking - has there ever been a bigger dropped bollock? What seemed like a great idea at the time which totally backfired? Have you experienced one yourself?

Teresa May’s general election was a misfire, but not on this scale.

Maybe only Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor agreeing to be interviewed tops it in the dropped bollock stakes.

You must be aware of Nigel's other gift - Brexit?

TheScreensNurseTheScreens · 08/07/2026 18:55

Glorious, isn't it?

Yes, but that fucked up other people, not him.
I took OP to mean something that only screwed up the perp'.

Teresa May’s general election was a misfire, but not on this scale. It would have been doomed anyway. The media didn't like her. I like her.

There was a big referendum. We all voted.

justintimeforxmas · 08/07/2026 18:58

We can only hope so. I will laugh so much if he doesn’t get back in again.

We didn't all vote, which is probably why we got the Leave result.
I voted.

Did Brexit seem like a good idea at the time? 🤣

But yes, I meant the impact on the individual, rather than a wider political mistake

Hoping for a BinFace Landslide 😄

It must have done. I could see reasons to leave or remain but I didn't believe the lies.

The blame for the referendum rests with the PM at the time.

I'm just truly hoping that the nation that gave us Boaty McBoatface will send Count Binface to the House of Commons. Do the UK proud, people of Clacton.

fannysyraunt · 08/07/2026 23:35

Surely Gerald Ratner is the og bollock-dropper.

court18 · 08/07/2026 23:36

Liz & Kwasi’s mega pro growth budget!

GoneWithTHeWindJammers · 08/07/2026 23:52

Bin Face is now 7/2 with some bookies. He has a realistic chance.

He seems to be doing all right out of it. Shame about the rest of us.

May's election was fun at the time but meant she struggled to do anything effectively and thus gifted us Johnson.

David Cameron was surely the bollock- dropper in that instance?

ZenNudist · 09/07/2026 00:02

I think Theresa May's GE was a huge dropped bollock but then again so was Brexit.

Sadly I think Nige is getting in again. Binface has better policies.

I wonder whether he will drop out of the by election race now he's realised his little game has backfired and put another reform candidate in his place. In which case the other parties may well pile in as well.

I disagree. TM's GE was a mistake, Brexit was a catastrophe.

I’m Binface all the way!

I was going to make an allusion to the bollock dropping Ramsay McDonald forming a cross-party National Government in 1931. But that doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of the jollity of the thread. Which, I’m glad to say, is about laughing at Farage.

Anarchy99 · 09/07/2026 00:15

Except he will spin this as ‘the establishment’ being scared to put anyone up against him. Certain sorts of his supporters will believe every word

You’re behind the curve I’m afraid. He’s now claiming BinFace is the establishment! A lefty BBC put up, no less.
And he wants to know who’s funding him. It’s beautiful.
I’m lovin’ it.

Ah sorry I wasn’t up to date!

That has cheered me up no end 🤣🤣🤣
