AIBU to ask my friend to stop talking about work?

My closest friend recently got a job at a supermarket and will not stop talking about it. When we went out the other day, we were walking and talking when he pulled out his phone to listen to voice messages from work. He also sends me photos and is talking about how he struggles so much in the heat at work. It is becoming the only thing he talks about!

I wouldn't mind normally, but I am currently a student in another city so the only job I can find in my town that will take me on a temp basis is volunteering at a charity shop. He knows I have struggled with finding work (many interviews, no callbacks etc.) and I don't think that he is being malicious but maybe he could be a bit more considerate?

AIBU to ask him to talk less about his job? How would you approach the topic with him?

Yes he obviously doesn't realise how it's affecting you so just tell him.

If he is a real friend, he will understand.

OP doesn't sound like a real friend either!
