Booked the tip for 9am today, pre holiday clear out before one of the DC comes home from uni and has the audacity to want some space to sleep in 😂
Got there and it was rammed, with a queue out onto the main road. So when I got in, I couldn't stop off at the small electricals and textile bins which are among the first ones you pass, as there were cars already in the parking spaces by them. The staff were waving us on to carry on up the ramp to the big skips to clear the queue on the road. So I went up there and parked, ditched the various other stuff in the right bins, then got the bags of textiles and small electricals and went to walk over to those bins (there's a painted walkway and you are allowed to walk to them, I know not all tips allow it but this one does).
One of the staff stopped me and said no no just drive round towards the exit and you can pull in by the large appliances skip to drop those off, we need to get these spaces cleared. Fair enough, I don't want to argue with them when they're just trying to do their job, so I did what he said but then those spaces were all coned off and there was absolutely nowhere to stop without completely blocking the exit road!
So I've ended up coming home with approx 1/3 of the stuff I took in the first place, which is infuriating as I waited 3 weeks for the slot and took time off work to go because weekend slots are like gold dust.
I guess it'll all go in the black bin over the next couple of collections as we never usually fill it anyway, I don't have time to do another tip run and I don't have space in my house to store it all any longer. Apparently our council do collect small electricals if you put them on top of the glass box, but the last two times I tried that they not only didn't collect the small electrical items (toaster and printer) but they also didn't empty the glass box 🙄
