AIBU to contact the estate agent about delayed sale funds?

WIBU to contact estate agent.

My house finally sold, and closed with keys being released last Wednesday late afternoon.

The estate agent has not sent their statement of account on to my solicitor, who has now requested it twice, this is holding up the release of the funds to me. My solicitors last update was yesterday afternoon advising that they have followed up with estate agent and are still waiting.
I’m not very good at all of this stuff and u sure what to do next? Sit tight and wait? Contact the solicitor? Contact the estate agent and ask what the hold up is?
The house that sold is in Ireland (adding because I’m sure property laws are different in different places)

We’re in NI - if funds weren’t released same day (which they always are!) I’d be straight on the phone. Completely unacceptable

When we sold our house in Ireland the funds arrived the same day.

Then the solicitor should’ve released the funds to you. The estate agent would have to contact you for payment.

What’s the estate agent got to do with the funds being released?

is this the solicitor transferring you the funds after deducting the EA fees? contact everyone often until resolved.sounds like bs

Sounds like that’s the issue in this case. Maybe ring the estate agent to see what the hold-up is, OP. It could be as simple as it’s a small business and the person that usually deals with that sort of thing is on holidays. Not good enough all the same.

That said, the timescale isn’t terribly unusual. When we sold our house in Ireland it took a about a week for the solicitor to release funds to us. In our case he was settling up the mortgage with the bank as well as dealing with the estate agent.
