AIBU to worry about being called quickly for a CT scan?

Anyone out there in the medical profession? For background, I have COPD but ok generally.
I had a precautionary chest X Ray on Monday after a chest infection. Today, Tuesday, I got a call from the hospital saying the results of my chest X Ray are ‘inconclusive’ and can I attend tomorrow morning, Wednesday, for a CT Scan.
AIBU to be very worried about the speed?
Thank you to anyone who can put my mind at rest.

I would think cancellation. Hope all goes well x

Likely a cancellation or at least that’s what the MRI tech that rang about my child told me when she rang this week to book us in this week.

My mum has stage 4 COPD and all her scans seem to be booked in very quickly. She gets a great service!

Depends where you live, to an extent. The hospitals in my area seem to have spare capacity, so next day appointments are common.

Ime repeat CTs are booked really quickly it’s the MRIs you have to wait for

Many thanks for your reassuring replies, especially the ones about cancellations. When I was phoned I was told “We have 9.30am tomorrow available. Can you make it”
makes me feel much better. I’m being such a softie.

I know what you mean about it being scary when they suddenly do something! But try not to worry about this bit.

Hope all goes well with your child 🌺

I didn't mean to vote on this but I put yabu on the basis that in my experience, CT scans are ususally quite quick. Hopefully it's all ok for you.

Same happened to me - I think they just don’t mess around where lungs are concerned and get you in quick. I didn’t have cancer, it was just a mucus collection they found that they washed out

shellyleppard · Yesterday 15:56

@Bleachedjeans good luck with your scan x

I think there maybe some targets set for CT scans waiting times, because mine was the same. I got a call end of May saying I'll be going for a CT scan sometime by end of June, was quite open, that's fine.
I got a call about 2 weeks later on a monday saying we need to get in for my scan ASAP and must by get it done by Friday that week and that scans should be done within 2 weeks of the referral otherwise the referral needs doing again.
They only had 1 slot available which was on the Tuesday at 8pm the next day and at a different hospital 30 mins further away. I wasn't given any choice.
My scan was for my heart.

Thank you for all your replies. My fear and ignorance caused me to worry. I’ve had the CT scan. I asked one of medical staff, “ Is it usual t be called for a CT scan the day after a chest x Ray?” He looked at me and said “It’s what we do all the time’l
i am giving myself a big eye roll 🙄

Locally they've set up a diagnostic centre at a supermarket. It's very quick st processing people., brilliant parking so I think fewer people are late/miss appointments and they are proactive in booking people in.

Ghe local eye hospital has one person doing appointments....for thd greater Bristol area!
