The counter thread to screaming kids in gardens 🫣

We have the unfortunate position of living next door to an Airbnb and in the last heatwave I saw all the threads about screaming kids in the garden. I’d like to highlight in opposition to that how annoying it is to hear shrieking women on a regular basis in the Airbnb garden next door!

I understand they are on holiday but several nights a week we have to listen to quiet chit chat over dinner in the garden (which is perfectly reasonable) but as the evening wears on it is usually punctuated by shrieking and inane laughter from a woman. This is also not just one guest it will be several over the summer. Often it does go on into the night, so in summer with windows open just as I start to drop off someone shrieks or laughs loudly. So next time you hear children screaming think of myself and everyone else living next door to an Airbnb (which shouldn’t be in a quiet residential area, but that’s another thread!)

I probably need to add I’m a woman and know how to have as much fun as the next person but I think I stopped shrieking at 10 years old😂

Yes, I am writing this as the shrieking has already started tonight🫣😂

I know what you mean. Horrible sound of cackling. I have found that it is the children of these women that make a racket in their garden. No surprise there!

I really feel for you. The building I live in has been stung several times by absentee landlords and short term visitors and of course noone gave a rats about f/t residents.

It took one property being trashed and the police being called; along with complaints and evidence, voice notes and videos being provided to AirBnB for the properties to be pulled.

People are just so selfish sometimes.

Have you complained to AirBnB?

We have contacted Airbnb and contacted the owners, they aren’t bothered the advice we get it is to call the police if it’s antisocial behaviour but if it’s just people letting loose on holiday I don’t think we can. Luckily we live in area that although it’s touristy people only come to see a couple of things (I’m looking at you Jeremy) and then go home after 3 days at the most. At least we get a break usually with nice guests before difficult guests!

As someone who lives in a hen/stag do town near multiple airbnbs, I feel this!
