AIBU to suggest packing sun cream in hand luggage for Greek holidays?

To suggest that if you're lucky enough to be going on holiday to one of the Greek Islands, you take a small (under 100ml) tube of sun cream in your hand luggage.

Possibly to the new EU rules, a number of flights have had to queue outside the airport building waiting to go through passport control - not fun if it's 35 C and no-one has sun cream on.

I know Greece has said they've suspended the checks but the queues are still happening especially at the weekends.

I did this when we went to France last year in case my hold luggage went astray. I squished a baseball cap and sunglasses in too.

Who’s saying you are unreasonable, to question it here?

Seems sensible advice to me.

I am in Kos right now and Nivea sun cream is €25-30!!!

GisGasGus · 04/07/2026 20:13

Isn't this a normal thing that people do wherever they are going? Why would it be unreasonable?

Option 2 click & collect a full size bottle from Boots Airside store. If you do this, select your collection date as the day before your flight so you’re sure it’s there on time.

Good advice. Corfu airport was horrendous for queuing and that was last year. Take water, snacks etc too

LindorDoubleChoc · 04/07/2026 21:59

Yabu. No one should pack sun cream in their hand luggage, that's terrible advice!

ZenNudist · 04/07/2026 22:02

Eh? I always pack small suncream as well as hold luggage suncream.

Just pick some up airside in the airport.
