AIBU to take boots to Scotland for a rainy weekend?

WIBU to take boots for the weekend? I’m going to Scotland and it is rain/19 degrees. I want to look nice but think it might be too cold for the sandals I’ve been wearing at home in the south.

Not unreasonable — yes take boots, everyone is wearing them up north in perpetual winter.

Unreasonable — don’t be weird, just wear your sandals.

Or I’ve got nice jeans and a pretty, short jumper. That might be nice and is quite trendy. I’m in good shape and otherwise quite well kept etc — I just am (like my partner) a bit boho

This thread is hilarious, what exactly makes you think that Edinburgh is some kind of alternate reality where people don't wear the sort of clothes that are worn in ever other place in the world?

Are the in laws somenkind of luggage inspectors, why would they or anyone else care what you pack for a city break

My mind is boggled by the insane amount of overthinking 😂

Unfeminine? Give over.

You wouldn’t catch many men wearing them so presumably they’re ‘feminine’ … just deeply unflattering on many women.Grin

But everyone’s got some type of jeans or trousers that suit them including the OP.

I know men can be a bit clueless when it comes to things like this, but your boyfriend might be able to give you an idea of how smartly (or otherwise) they dress? Maybe he has some pictures of them?

I am currently wearing dress and leggings for example, so I certainly wouldn't judge you for wearing the same. If your BF DM is a Hyacinth Bucket (💐) type you might have a different reaction.

If you are driving, I would just overpack- if you are going on the train though, trainers might work better as a middle ground as they would be suitable in slightly chilly weather but not too horrendous if we get another warm spell.

Trainers or loafers.
no one is wearing boots in Scottish cities in this weather

Scottish here. DD was in a sunhat, coat, and woolly hat within an hour. You are wise to bring boots.

I'm not sure the OP means nice practical walking boots, but yes OP you should take your smart boots and if you're not staying in town, something useful too.

Yes, she mentioned it was a city break after I posted.

If this is the sort of shit you're pandering then you clearly have a lot of time on your hands. What would happen if everyone said you are being unreasonable? Would you leave the boots at home and walk in the rain with sandals. No! You wouldn't! So why even bother asking??

Yes, I’m in Scotland. Wearing wellies in the weather forecast while wandering about Edinburgh is just bloody silly
