AIBU to be furious a convicted rapist kept his taxi licence?

I don’t think I’ve protested in my life before: but absolutely raging that a convicted rapist who raped a teenage passenger has had his license renewed. I don’t live in the region, I don’t know the woman: but I’m fucking livid that this man has been allowed to keep his license. Firstly for the fact he had raped a young woman. Secondly for the fact he is now in a great position to do it again

My understanding is that he had one licence allowing him to drive a taxi, which was taken off him, and an operator’s licence which allowed him, or his company, to supply taxis to the public and it’s that which was continued at the request of a family member, according to your link. That decision is now being reviewed. He’s currently in prison and presumably won’t be issued with a taxi driver’s licence when he gets out, but who the fuck knows as there’ll probably be some dickhead who’ll believe that he’s done his time and will have been rehabilitated.

I didnt realise this, theres another thread where I had assumed, like the title of this thread, its a taxi licence and thta he is driving taxis. Relief to know this is incorrect

I presume then that the family member would have been financially disadvantaged if the operators licence had been removed.

I’ve clearly misunderstood: I thought they were one and the same thing! Either way, his operators license should also be revoked. The only license he should be approved for is a tv licence

But I can see why, if he has a company with someone else, if the operators licence is revoked then the company cant operate and then the other person is financially disadvantaged. They shouldnt be due to his crime so I can see why the decision was what it was
