Am I blocked on WhatsApp?

The message was sent 5 hours ago to someone who is usually good at responding.. but for some reason still only has one tick..usually that could indicate I’m blocked but I am able to see his “last online” status

so am I blocked

You can’t see someone’s last seen when you’re blocked. You’re not blocked

Not blocked, just purposely ignoring the message and not opening it.

One tick means it hasn’t been delivered. The phone is not receiving messages, no signal maybe?

Has his profile pic disappeared? That’s when you know you’re blocked. Sometimes my messages to friends go on to one grey tick but then hours later get the double. I wouldn’t say that offline means not going to two ticks like PPs, as some of my contacts go straight through as double grey ticks when they’re not even active on WhatsApp. It just means their phone has fully received the message that they can read when they wish and when they do they turn blue.

If you can see last seen you have not been blocked. One grey tick is simply that the message has not yet delivered to the phone. It could be off or has no signal.

Could he be on holiday? I had a rubbish signal on holiday (In England)

No not on holiday he was only texting me this afternoon that’s why it’s odd that now only one tick

His phones switched off that's all.

Could be poor signal, flat battery, phone turned off for a meeting etc.

Nobody is required to be accessible by phone 24/7 so whatever the reason, leave them to do whatever they wish to do and you’ll have your answer tomorrow. Worrying about whether you’re blocked or being ghosted etc is a waste of your precious energy at this point.

No it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re blocked.
I put mine on airplane mode sometimes while I’m working or doing something I need to focus on. Or while I’m charging my phone, as my charger / battery is terrible and having it on airplane makes it charge quicker. I’d put it down to something like that, unless it is still on one tick this time tomorrow.

It’s just now gone to 2 ticks so I’ll prob have a reply within the next 24 hours hopefully

All good. Turns out his phone had died at work snd he only was able to charge it late last night
