Has anyone had a good experience with a sleep consultant?

I’m at breaking point with my 7 month old’s sleep. He gets so distressed if we try to put him down in his cot, is only really happy if he’s co-sleeping in our bed with us etc (which is fine…but DP and I both sleep terribly with DS in there, and we also want to have some of the evening to ourselves with him safely in his cot).

Anyway, I’ve just filled out a form for a sleep consultant. It looks like it’s basically £245 for a pdf document so I feel a bit wary. Has anyone used one successfully or does anyone have any tips about whether or not to bother?

I paid for something similar when mine was the same age! I was also able to to have check in calls with the consultant which helped me stay on track. It worked really well and we were all much happier as a result. Good luck!

Ah ok, there was an option to pay more and have access to follow up calls. That’s useful to hear it helped! Thanks.

Yes! Used the same one for both of my children and she was incredible. Paid £175 for 3 phone calls - first initial fact finding (about 1hr) with plan of action, then two follow ups. Was categorically not about leaving them to cry it out. She just knew exactly was she was talking about. She was an ex norland nanny, so had seen it all. Her solutions were simple; we just needed someone to motivate us to make the changes. Happy to pass on her details...

Yes! Mine saved my life. Possibly literally, as I was so tired I started hallucinating while walking down stairs.

It might be ‘just a pdf’, but I found it so, so helpful to have a single thing I could stick to, rather than trying out everything on the internet which all seemed to contradict itself. We could whatsapp ours which was a lifeline of support.

I’ve read replies on here that say ‘sleep consultants just charge for stuff you can find out yourself’. Which is true, but when you’re horribly sleep deprived you might not actually be able to take those kinds of steps.

Happy to DM you her details.

I had one years ago, baby still only slept for a couple of hours. Some kids don’t need sleep especially ND ones.

Yes we used one for both our kids - we were able to have a couple of follow up calls and could email whenever we needed advice.
It was very worth it for us. Saved my sanity!

Hi yes I used one at the same age your son is, it worked in 2 nights - disappearing chair method with my husband putting the baby to bed and using the disappearing chair method. Literally changed our lives! Dm me if you want any info
