AIBU to consider a 2015 second-hand Mini despite mixed reviews?

I love Minis and I am thinking of buying a second hand Mini, I think it's 2015. I hear such mixed reviews of Minis however - some seem to love theirs and others have had loads of problems! I've found one for a good price near me, but thought I'd ask for some opinions first. Thank you!

I had one a similar age and loved it. I had it for about 4 years. Generally it was reliable however there were a couple of issues I needed to get sorted under warranty. One was the central locking which stopped working. The other was the boot release. I only got rid of it as I wanted something bigger.
If you have the registration number I’d check the MOT history. I’d also be looking at the service history too.

I have a 2013 mini and love it. I've had it almost a year and had no issues with it

I love my mini. I’ve never had any problems with it and I’ve had it for three years - it’s 6 years old now. Very economical to drive.

I drive a 2014 Mini Paceman and I love it

Just bought my third Mini yesterday. I have had Minis for about 12 years and they have never let me down. Have had work done along the way but not breakdowns as such. My last one was a 2011 and I’ve just treated myself to a 2021 model.

Thank you - this is all really helpful!

I had a Cooper S convertible. It was very cramped in the rear and servicing and repairs were expensive, although Mini customer service was good. I had a Countryman after that, but it was expensive to keep going.

Mileage
Service History
Previous Owners

For example 60k miles, FSH one lady owner = no brainer

My mum had a mid 2000s mini cooper that she had for about five years until about a year ago. She did a fair bit of mileage, drove in ice etc and aside from standard wear and tear it didn't require any maintenance. Only flicked it because the mileage started to creep up.

It can be a luck of the draw with BMWs though, my parents had a 90s BMW when I was a child and it was an absolute money pit.

The problem with BMW Minis is the BMW bit - some of the engines are a nightmare to fix and parts expensive, service history is essential, but you will pay for it.

Get onto Google and learn about the different engines, bodystyles, trims and so on, then you can make an informed decision - honestly most of what you need to know is here. Never buy until you have slept on it at least once, there is always another car.

You may already know this but avoid anything 2014 or older as they were vastly improved in 2015.
