Dishwasher - AIBU to put it out of its misery?

We have an integrated dishwasher. No idea how old it is, it was in the house when we moved it.

Its dreadful. Stuff comes out dirtier than when it went it. Glasses and other things sprayed with food residue, baked on and have to be hand washed. Grainy feeling on everything.

We’ve tried everything: rinsing off plates and other items before putting them in; regularly cleaning the filter and inside the spinny bits; running empty between washes. But nothing changes.

Should we just assume it’s on its way out and replace, or pay money for a repair (that might not be possible)? Or can anyone suggest anything?

There very basic there’s not much to go wrong or wear out
what condition is the filter in in the bottom of it

Looks fine. We take it out and rinse it after every wash now, even if it looks clean.

If you have a good local repair person / company, I'd ask them to take a look. Ours are very honest about whether a repair is worth it, or if it's time to replace.

I had the same issue and replaced it this week. I tried everything to make the old one work. Checking water pressure, cleaning filter, different detergent, getting a repairer out etc.

Everything is now coming out clean. Sometimes it needs replacing.

our old dishwasher was awful. Best thing we did was just bite the bullet and replace it.

Not my experience. I bought a hotpoint one and its always been shitty.

Its only 3 years old and Id had enough of everything coming out dirty. We used rinse aid, salt, cleaned fiter, checked for blockages, used cleaner regularly.
