AIBU can't sleep and feel like I'm going mad

I feel like I will go mad. I'm desperately trying to get to sleep but I feel like I am sleeping under a jet engine. Upstairs neighbours I assume have some sort of mobile AC unit on. It's a non stop engine sound above my head. I have a series of really critical meetings tomorrow. I feel like my brain is on fire. Can't sleep in the living room as my settee has got cat wee smell activated by the heat (I'll save that for another thread). I've listened to 2 hours of podcasts and have had the pillow over my head for the last 30 minutes. Help.

I sympathise with you OP. I have same issue buf noise us from a Dyson fan. The humming is like a helicopter above my head. For how I'm sleeping in my frontroom room but long-term thinking about switching my bedroom to frontroom so I won't be able to hear it when I'm trying to sleep. The guy above me has tried reducing the noise by turning it down and putting carpet tiles & underlay under it as well as most recently a large paving slab under it but I still feel the whole room vibrating af night. I'm very noise sensitive and alyhough U turn my iwn dan on to try to drown it out that gets on my nerves tooil. I hope you speak to yr neighbours and get it sorted.

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't broached it with them! I've been putting my fan on and music to try and drown out the noise and vibrations. Last thing at night and first thing in the morning its rumbling on.

The longer you leave speaking to them, the more you build up the dread about speaking to them. Just speak to them. They're human beings.

I'm sat in bed and no chance of sleeping as the ceiling is humming no joke.

I know I need to talk to them.

Good luck. When I had to do it I built it up in my head so much, but it was a huge relief to have it over and done with, and the noise situation did improve.
