Been oot in the toon tonight (Newcastle) and went into a bar next to/connected to the Royal hotel (next to the railway station) It's called Tickets.

They had an offer on 2 cocktails for 12.95. You need to get same one. We chose long Island iced tea. The bar man said do you want a usual one topped with coke or something else we couldn't quite make out. We said yeah we'll try that.
Turns out it's brown ale 🤣 we're from the north east so no excuse. Really enjoyed it but was so funny when we realised. How random is that?

Oooh,I spent about 3 months at the Royal Station in 1997 when I was doing training courses for work. Good times! Nice to hear it's still there!

It's a beautiful hotel. Our room is so cheap. £62. No breakfast but we're heading back early on.

Now I lived in the Toon for 7 years in my 20s and am very nostalgic about it, but Newcastle Brown never really floated my boat. Although I imagine it was improved by sticking it in a cocktail!

Oh I love real ale but not brown ale. It was just a novelty. Fab young barman called Tom there. Have you been in? It's really lovely.
