On Father’s Day spare a thought for those of us who don’t know our biological fathers. Sometimes it’s because he walked away and sometimes due to domestic violence or similar or sometimes our mums just decided he shouldn’t see us. This deprived us of a possible lovely relationship between father and daughter or son.
In my case I was born in the late 50s . My dad was Asian and my mum British . They weren’t married. My mum married my stepdad when I was two and moved away . I know she did it to protect me from the stigma of being mixed race and illegitimate but I lived a lie until I found out as a teenager. I wasn’t close to my stepdad and mourn the relationship I might have had with my dad . I have spent years looking for him but assume he will have died by now
